Get to Know Your Artist

Kenneth Pasley masterfully wields graphite and charcoal, infusing his work with a painterly quality through his unique, self-developed technique. His artistic journey began long before kindergarten, meticulously recreating cartoon characters and spending countless hours sketching on typewriting paper—or any blank surface he could find.

Early inspiration came from Norman Rockwell’s storytelling paintings, but his passion for realism was deeply shaped by the great masters—Rembrandt, da Vinci, and above all, Michelangelo. Their mastery of light, fabric, and expression captivated him, inspiring him to emulate their intricate detail in his own work.

Learning the Basics

Kenneth Pasley honed his craft at the Atlanta College of Art, where he studied drawing and color theory. While his distinctive style and technique deviated from conventional methods, his results left a lasting impression—even seasoned professors were astounded by his work.

He often reflects, "One of the greatest feelings as an artist is creating something that profoundly impacts the viewer, communicating beyond the barriers of language." His artistry has been praised by critics, with one describing him as “a wizard with a pencil” and another noting that his work, while photographic in appearance, showcases “exceptional skill.”

Kenneth finds deep fulfillment in the meticulous process of bringing his visions to life using only the simplest materials. This dedication led him to brand his work as a fusion of subject and medium, known simply as Pencilife.©
